EDUCATION

Since 2009, Te Herenga Waka o Orewa has been at the forefront of offering its culturally unique educational opportunities to the local community.

Cultural themes include te reo Māori me wōna tikanga, marae experiences, kapa haka, rongoā Māori and professional development.

Te Herenga Waka o Orewa Marae leads all community celebrations for Waitangi Day, Matariki and Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori.  We also offer advice and or facilitate pōwhiri, blessings, consultations and cultural support services to local government, businesses, community organisations, schools and the general community.

OUR PEOPLE

He aha te mea nui o te ao? Māku e kī atu. he tangata... he tangata... he tangata... As this common Māori phrase so eloquently puts it: What is the most important thing in the world? I will tell you
it is people... it is people... it is people...

An appropriate and fitting phrase to acknowledge all the people, present and past, that have contributed to the success of Te Herenga Waka o Orewa’s achievements and those yet to be conquered! Click here to read about our committee.
